On the 17th of October, we held an exclusive whiskey tasting event in collaboration with Vana Living and Mackmyra Whisky. During the tasting session, the participants got an informative lecture from Whiskey Expert Howard Yu about the whiskey-making process and how it affects the final taste of the whiskey.

Mackmyra has adapted to the ever-changing technological environment and incorporates technology into almost all stages of the whisky production so much so we have even created an Artificial Intelligence whisky. Mackmyra Jaktlycka (Happy hunting) is a Swedish single malt whisky that celebrates autumn, berry foraging and the treasures to be found in the ancient Swedish woods. As you savour Jaktlycka an engaging trail of blueberries and lingonberries is revealed, as the whisky was predominantly matured in casks that previously held Swedish berry wine from the craft producer Grythyttan. Fruity and smooth with citrus, caramel and honey. Mackmyra Brukswhisky has a balanced character with fruits and butterscotch. The nose is clean with light, spicy notes. Clear fruitiness with butterscotch, citrus and pear. Prominent notes are liquorice and mint. The palate is fruity and slightly smoky while the aftertaste is fruity and slightly spicy.

Notes of … Mackmyra have experimented with maturing whisky in casks that previously contained cloudberry wine, and whispers among the trees (or are they ents?) suggest that some of that whisky has made it into this expression Tasting notes: Nose: Marzipan, juicy apricot and raspberry, hints of brown sugar. Palate: Pastries filled with quince jam. Mackmyra Jaktlycka (46.1%, OB, 2020) Nose: A candy-esque sweetness with whiffs of cherry candy canes, but also fresh red berries and stroopwafels.
